John H. V. Gilbert Interprofessional Scholarship
A $500 scholarship has been endowed by friends and colleagues in honour of Dr. John H.V. Gilbert for an outstanding student at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan who, having completed the penultimate year of any health or human services degree program, combines academic excellence and demonstrated student leadership in interprofessional education for collaborative patient-centred practice.
Activities related to interprofessional education in all undergraduate years are considered.
The scholarship is made on the recommendation of the Office of the Vice-President, Health.
Applicants must:
- Be registered in a health or human services degree program at UBC and be in good academic standing.
- Be in the final year of their program in the Winter 2022 Term.
- Meet minimum requirements for holding and retaining scholarships as stated in the UBC Senate Regulations Governing University Awards.
All required forms and supporting documentation as outlined below must be received by the application deadline.

Complete and submit the online application form.
Step 2
Request an official PDF transcript to be delivered by email to ubchealth.admin@ubc.ca.
Step 3
Request two letters of recommendations from referees with formal academic, health professional, or community educator roles who can clearly describe your demonstrated student leadership in interprofessional education for collaborative patient-centred practice, including your involvement in specific activities and the value that you brought to these activities. Letters of recommendation (maximum 2 pages each) must be emailed by your referees directly to ubchealth.admin@ubc.ca.
Note: Applicants must ensure that official transcripts and letters of recommendation are sent to ubchealth.admin@ubc.ca by the application deadline in order for the application package to be complete. Late or incomplete application packages will not be considered.
The John H. V. Gilbert Interprofessional Scholarship recipient is selected by the UBC Health Awards Committee, which is composed of UBC faculty members, students, and public members from the health community.
By accepting the Gilbert Scholarship, the recipient consents to having their name, and program of study, and photo published in UBC Health communications.
